Frequently asked questions.

Why Should I Hire A Designer?

Good people like to work with good people. Half the battle is finding contractors you’re excited to work with. (spoiler alert: We’ve already got that part covered!)

We believe design should be beautiful, functional and fun. We aim to provide clean, long lasting designs to grow with your style + family. We focus on approachable designs with realistic budgets and bringing function to each space. Design should make sense for the function of the space and your family’s particular needs.

Renovations bring an exciting time of life.  You’re changing a space to make it yours for this stage of life. You’re spending your hard earned money, adjusting the way you live, making lots of decisions and managing a lot of moving pieces on top of your daily life. While it’s an exciting time because of what’s to come, it can be overwhelming. Allowing someone else to manage the project from a design refresh to a full renovation, allows you to maintain consistency in other parts of your life (for you, your kids, your relationships, your work). Stepping out of the monotony allows the design and decision making to be much more fun.

Why Should I Hire Mabel of Marblehead?

Great question. There are so many talented designers in the area and the good news is, that means you are able to choose who you want to work with. Renovations + redesigns take time and you should work with someone who’s style you not only love, but who’s personality and skills are the right fit for you + your project. We always encourage an initial call so you’re able to assess if we can provide what you’re looking for. It’s all about finding the person with the right vibes for you.

How Can I Justify The Financial Investment?

We hear this often and we totally understand. We encourage you to jump on a call with us to talk through your project and where you specifically will see the value of the investment.

If you’d rather read what we think, without us fully understanding your project + needs, that’s ok too.

So here it is: renovations + redesigns are hard. They take time, money and coordination to make all of the pieces come together. We like to think of ourselves as your mentor who you can reach out to for support, questions or encouragement. We always help to drive your timeline, which is usually always delayed. Renovations + redesigns aren’t a solo endeavor. If you’re not celebrating the little wins, finding deals where you can and quickly + effectively problem solving, you’re going to be frustrated. Ask anyone who’s been through it. Oftentimes, our clients see value in the relationship, the deals we can offer on furniture + materials and the removal of the coordination burden.

When Should I Reach Out?

The earlier the better. We’d love to help with whatever we can and the earlier you reach out the better we can evaluate your plans, needs and budget. We have strong connections with General Contractors and Sub-Contractors and can always make recommendations + share our expertise.

How Should I Prepare For Our First Call?

Here’s what we will cover on our initial call:

  • Introductions

  • Scope of your project, needs + timeline

  • Your style + vision for the outcome (if you have a Pinterest board you can share that makes our lives easier! +while you’re on Pinterest, check out our page: www.pinterest.com/mabelofmarblehead/)

Ok, And Then What Happens?

After our initial conversation, we put together a vision board based off of the design style you like + the needs of your project and we go from there!
